I love to hear the whispers of the old portrait masters and the nudging of the new photographic artists. I grew up with Rembrant and Vermeer. My Dutch grandmother was an oil painter who could wield a paintbrush over a canvas with the artistry and precision of a Dutch master. The smell of turpentine and oil paint is forever engrained in my memory. Hovering over her shoulder, I would watch as, stroke by stroke, images took shape. And, if I was lucky, she would give me my own canvas to practice with. Of course, in those days, it took days, sometimes weeks, for the paint to dry.
Today, I use photography as my medium, transforming and bringing to life images from my camera. Photoshop is the canvas upon which I point, manipulating pixels and transforming images into painterly works of art. Whether I am creating simple family portrait or a complex painterly composition, there is a joy in using digital media as the vehicle to bridge photography with my imagination. I love to captivate people with the illusion of reality in telling a story, and the transformative results that can be achieved in creating one-of-a-kind, fine art pieces.
My hope is that you will visit the galleries....linger on an image.... and discover the desire to have a unique work of art created for your own home. Timeless, whimsical and beautiful, these images are sure to thrive indefinitely in your home.
